Films to watch that won’t scare away your friends

@ask-the-icelandic-little Heracles and Sadik both went silent at the question, both looking rather ashamed. Finally Heracles admitted, “I.. I shouldn’t have assumed that, Emil. I’m sorry.” “I’m sorry too,” said Sadik, rubbing the back of his neck. “You’re a person, not a job. I just saw you here and kind of assumed that Hera must have hired you because I couldn’t think of how else you would end up here.” Heracles crossed his arms and bit back the comment he wanted to make about Sadik’s character. Kiku, on instinct, placed a comforting hand on Emil’s shoulder, feeling a little guilty that he had come to similar conclusions.

He looked at both their ashamed faces, and slowly started to smile lightly.

“Well, not that you would be wrong honestly. It’s fine.” He chuckled lightly, leaning slightly to Kiku. “Neither of you need to look so grave serious about it, really. It was probably just a bit of the surprise of the moment too, I probably wouldn’t have thought different either.” He smiled a bit to lighten the atmosphere before he looked over to Sadik again.

“Really though, it’s nice to see you again.” A reassuring grin soon followed, “And good timing too, actually! Do you maybe wanna join, we planned a movie night for today.” The words where out faster then he thought and quickly looked over to Heracles and Kiku.

“I mean… If you would be okay with that, obviously. Sorry.”

Heracles, in that moment, found himself torn between his general distaste for his brother’s company and his desire to give Emil an opportunity to catch up with an old friend. Luckily, there was Kiku. “I was just about to invite him to stay myself,” he said, giving Emil’s shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
Sadik glanced between the three of them and grinned. “I’d love to,” he said, throwing his arm around his brother. “Why, I already enjoy spending time with my favorite little brother and his handsome husband,” he said with a wink at Kiku and Emil.
“Yes, my husband is very handsome, which is one of the reasons I married him. My husband. Who is married to me,” Heracles grumbled.
Sadik only grinned wider while Kiku rolled his eyes.

Emil tried his best to surpress his grin, though seeing Heracles so grumpy made a admittedly amusing sight. He just smiled bright and excuse it easily.

“Thanks Kiku! I mean, we would need to start the movie new anyways and we where still pretty much at the start, right? That’s pretty neat! And you two can just sit on the opposite sides of the couch.” With a grin he looked over to the brothers.

“Also, Sadik? Leave the licorice to me. I don’t think that’s an issue though, the two have snacks for half an army placed there.” His smile just lit up the room and he made his way back, half to continue in time, half to quickly place the licorice bowl near his seat.

Seeing Emil so happy made Heracles able to tolerate his brother’s presence more easily, if only a little.
“It’s yours,” said Sadik, taking up the side of the couch closest to Emil. Heracles, naturally, took the opposite end of the couch, leaving Kiku and Emil to split the middle. When everyone was comfortably seated, Kiku started the movie from the beginning.

The first hours went by surprisingly pleasant and from time to time only interrupted by small cheers for the good guys in the movie. He had cuddled up comfortable into the cushions of the couch, and after the first movie slowly came to a close already interested in the next.

He chatted happily with Sadik for a small while, if he had known the movie already, and how he had been doing anyways.

Heracles, of course, thought Sadik chewed too loudly and talked too much, which was why Kiku was thankful for the two-man buffer between his husband and brother in law. Sadik was almost more interested in Emil than the movie, simply thrilled to see him after so long, and even happier that he was safe.
“It was the horror movie next, right?” Heracles asked, wiggling out of his seat to switch the DVDs.
Kiku nodded and said, “I am ready.” He was cutely determined.
Sadik dashed away to get more popcorn and was back before the disc had been changed. He silently offered Emil some.

“Yup! Horror is next! Small warning, I havent seen a horror movie in quite a while.” He chuckled lightly as he got a pillow and tucked it behind his back to be more comfortable.
“I am ready too though! I wont get scared!” He nodded to Kiku, just as determined, and smiled.
He waited patiently for Sadik and took his offer smiling, whispering a quiet “Thank you!”, as the movie started.
He waited calmly for the movie to pick up the story, and just got slight, comfortable shivers so far.

@ask-the-icelandic-little “To what do I owe the pleasure?” Heracles asked Sadik, his arms crossed and voice flat. Sadik welcomed himself inside and said, “I was just passing through and thought–” the sight of Emil made him stop short. “…Emil? Is that you?”

He just stared at the other for a moment, completly baffled that his thought had actually been right.
“I KNEW the name was familiar! Oh god its really you!”
He couldnt believe it. He really couldnt believe it at all that he now, after over two years, saw Sadik again.
“I would have never thought Heracles meant you! You never told me you had a brother!”

Heracles was gaping like a fish, a million thoughts running through his mind.
Sadik, though, was quicker to speak. “It really is you! How have you been? You look great, but how–” he was going in to hug Emil but froze and looked to Heracles. “Heracles, dear God, are you… does Kiku know about this?” he asked, voice full of barely suppressed rage. Heracles was about to reply but Sadik interrupted him. “How dare you! Kiku has always been faithful to you, and this is how you repay him?! Emil, this isn’t your fault, but–”
Kiku sighed and quickly inserted himself into the situation. “Yes, Kiku knows about this,” he said, deadpan.
Sadik stopped again, his eyes widening in surprise. “Oh–Oh!” He said, blushing lightly. “I never considered you two the type to hire a prostitute, but if that’s what–”
“We did not hire a prostitute!” Heracles declared, finally over his shock.

Emil just stared at what was going on before him. His mind was still completly blank from surprise, and just slowly shook his head.
He just regained this thoughts after Heracles let out the last statement, and chuckled lightly embarrassed.
“Well… Technically, you did, even though you thought I was a chiropractor.” He smiled lightly, though blushing really bright.
“Really though Sadik, its not like that. The two are like par… They are too nice for that.”
He smiled again, and just stepped forward to hug him first instead, surprised, but pleasently so.
“It really had been a while, hasnt it?”

‘Like par… parents…?’ Kiku thought. He couldn’t dwell on it, however.
Sadik wrapped Emil in a crushing hug. “It’s so good to see you safe and sound,” he said. “But how the hell did they mistake you for a chiropractor?”
“Wrong number and unfortunately vague texts,” Heracles explained. “How do /you/ know Emil?” he asked seriously. “Sadik, if you ever hurt him, I swear–”
“It isn’t like that!” Sadik retorted, looking hurt.

“Sadik, I cant breathe…” He coughed, laughing lightly  when he slowly got out of the, quite literally breathtaking, hug.
“And please, dont get the wrong thought! Its not like that at all, I promise you me and Sadik have a completly positive relationship!”
Emil quickly held up his hands in defense, trying to calm the atmosphere at least a bit.
“I still know him from when I first got here. My brother appareantly knew him and thought it would be good if I wouldnt be completly alone in a new country, which is why he asked Sadik if he could look over me for a while!”
He slowly started to explain.
“He helped me a lot when I first moved here, and I even stayed at his place for a while. He has been nothing but helpful, and even disapproving when he heard of my…”, he thought for a moment how to put it, “Temporary Job plans. After a while I wouldnt want to bother him anymore, since I was really just another, though useless, roommate. After an argument I moved out, and… sort of forgot to remember his number.”
He remembered and looked a bit nervous up.
“Sorry for that, by the way… I thought I shouldnt contact you anymore anyways after that, though I guess afterwards it was probably inconsiderate of me…”

Sadik’s face visibly fell. “Emil… useless? Is that what you thought?” He asked. Kiku and Heracles watched in silence. “I know I wasn’t rich, but I was more than capable of supporting us both, and then you ran off after we fought…” he laughed dryly. “I thought your brother was going to kill me. It doesn’t matter now, though,” he said with a grin. “Sure, I worried, but you’re alive and well and that’s what matters.”
Heracles breathed a sigh of relief that his brother hadn’t done anything dishonorable towards Emil.
“Erm… would you like us to give you some space?” Kiku asked.

He looked up to him again, with a slightly guilty look. He slightly ignored the first question when he responded.
“Sorry I worried you…” He took a little while, but then he hugged Sadik again, even though for a moment. He took a deep breath before pulling away again, feeling better now.
Emil looked over to Kiku, and shook his head with a light smile.
“No, its alright. I am okay. Thank you for asking.”
It took a short moment before he spoke up.
“Though, I do have a question…” He coughed lightly and looked at both Heracles and Sadik.
“Why did both of you first assume that the other one had hired me at some point? Just out of curiousity… Do you think the only people I know are clients?”
I mean… They wouldnt really be WRONG… But he still felt the need to ask.

Films to watch that won’t scare away your friends

@ask-the-icelandic-little Heracles and Kiku had spent most of the day bickering about which movies to play for their guest, and whether licorice was truly a movie night snack, and if so-and-so was better in this or that movie, and if that movie was more horror or thriller. Like an old couple, they fussed for the sport of it, and neither were particularly sore losers, though Heracles did have a competitive streak, and a passionate one at that. This was how they were occupying themselves when it came time for Emil to arrive: a heated debate over the merits of different types of popcorn.

First, Emil wasn’t sure if he should actually knock on the door. He could hear the debate from outside the front door and wasn’t sure if he should make his presence clear and interrupt or stay outside, laughing quietly to himself or silently agreed with one side or the other.

Also, salty popcorn was definitely an abomination and should be forbidden by all means.

After a while his bag did get a bit heavy though, and he rang the doorbell, smiling already.

The chime yanked Heracles and Kiku from their debate. Almost instantly, they were at the door welcoming Emil inside. “Emil!” Heracles greeted happily, already taking his bag.
“Thank you for coming,” said Kiku, leading him inside. “I hope your trip went well?”

“I am happy to be here, and yes, everything went very well!” He smiled happily to the two, a comfortable feeling already warming up his heart.

“So, what movies did you plan? I got two myself, just in case. I didn’t really know what genres you liked though, so I’ll let myself get surprised!”

“Ah more options,” said Kiku with a polite smile, though he sounded a little tired. “Heracles and I couldn’t decide between these two,” he said, presenting an action movie and a horror movie.
Heracles nodded. “But now we have your movies to pick from as well,” he stated. “Care to be a tie breaker, Emil? I mean, realistically we have time for all four…” he trailed, wondering if they’d have to flip a coin after all.

“Mhh. Let’s say three! Your two movies and one of mine could work!”

He smiled as he stepped into their house, quickly going up to Heracles and taking one of his movies out.

“I would say maybe Action movie first. Gets us awake, fun to watch! When we’re still awake enough and it’s actually dark outside the horror movie for best effect! And, if we still have the time then…”, he held his own movie up, “A courtroom thriller as calming finish!”

“I like that plan,” said Heracles as he took Emil’s bag to the guest room.
“I agree,” said Kiku. “Here we have some snacks, so please, help yourself.” Naturally, they had fretted over what their guest might prefer, so they had set out several types of popcorn and candy, much more than they would ever eat.
Heracles returned and, when he thought Emil wasn’t looking, pecked Kiku on the cheeks before descending on the treats.

Emil was very much seeing it, but only turned away with a light smile and pretended not to.
Instead he showed a bright smile when he looked over all the snacks. WIth just the slightest bit of embarrassment he already took two licorice pieces, hoping the other two wouldnt see he was eating so early already.
He fell into the cushions of the couch, just smiling happily to himself as he waited for the moment.

Kiku and Heracles took no notice of Emil’s snacking. Instead, they popped in the movie and settled on the couch, a respectful distance away from Emil.
“You haven’t seen this before have you?” Kiku asked Emil as the opening credits showed. “The ending always gets me…”

“I havent yet!” He looked exited and shook his head, just the slightest bit hyped, what really was showing though.
“I can say the same about the movie I got though. Do you know Primal Fear? If not, I realy want to see your reaction to the end later.” He chuckled and then quickly got quiet again, looking interested at the screen while happily snacking from time to time.

“I suppose we’ll both be getting a surprise tonight,” said Kiku with a chuckle. He was more right than he knew, as just that moment, there was a knock at the door.
Heracles frowned and said, “Who could that be?” He let the movie play as he got up to get the door, leaving Kiku and Emil to puzzle over the unexpected visitor on the couch.
From just out of sight, the sound of the door opening could be heard before a loud, familiar voice called, “Heracles! How’s my favorite brother?”
Kiku groaned quietly and put his face in his hands. “Sadik…”

He half still listened to the movie, so he couldnt be completly sure when he heard the voice if he really had heard right.
Emil looked up for a moment, some thought slowly creeping into his mind.
“Wait… That name… And that voice…” No, it couldnt be, couldnt it?
He shook his head confused, just curiously looking into the direction the voice had come from.
He slowly stood up, just wanting to confirm if his thought had actually been right.
And as a familiar figure turned around the corner, he couldnt help but stare.
